Featured Article Branding Your Business
Highly successful branding does not occur by chance. Companies such as Disney, UPS and HP deliberately and consistently have projected their images to the public through the use of specific artwork, colors, themes, policies and products. If we see a set of mouse ears we automatically think of Disney; when we see a brown delivery truck we automatically think of UPS. But - they never stop branding even though they are already highly recognized. These successful companies spend a lot of time and money on branding because they know it pays off in increased sales.
, when you hear the word "branding" regarding your business what do you think of? Most people think of "branding" as having a great logo with a nice color scheme that is displayed on everything - letterheads, website, vehicle signs, apparel, and of course on all of your promotional items.
All of those things are important, but effectively branding your business involves much, much more. In an article written by Naz Daud of the UK Business Directory Team he explains that "branding" literally means that every aspect of your company should reflect what you want your image to be in the market place.
Consider that all of the following should also be important parts of branding any business -
- The reputations of the owners and employees
- The reputations of customers and suppliers
- The company's Mission Statement
- Consistent practices in all parts of the business
- Customer Service
- How the company deals with its suppliers
- Marketing & advertising
- Product quality
- Honesty & integrity
When you look at the various aspects of your company, check to make sure that the image you want to reflect - your "branding" - permeates all aspects of it. From the person who answers your phone to the top decision maker; from the envelopes you use to the billboard on the highway - make sure that when a client or prospect interacts with ANY aspect of your company that they will know what your brand stands for besides just a cool logo or attractive colors. If they like what they see they will want to do business with you.
Most of us never expect to become a Disney or a UPS or an HP, but we can still follow their examples so that we can get the best possible return on our business investment.
